Not surprised though. When incompetence is rewarded with promotions and pay because of external factors other than competence for the job, this is what you get.

Two New York City corrections officials were lavished with retirement parties on Rikers Island this week, with hundreds of employees enjoying extravagant onsite celebrations — complete with a water-cannon salute and a marching band — even amid a staffing crisis and surge in inmate violence inside the troubled jail.

The pair of over-the-top, on-the-clock, booze-filled revels were thrown for Chief of Department Hazel Jennings and Bureau Chief Becky Scott, stunned insiders told The Post.

Clearly racism caused this. We need more people of color in the top ranks of the corrections department, that's the only way to weed out corruption and crime within the department.

Oh wait.

Thank You. Apparently many people here have no idea about Corrections leadership.

Just like Baltimore, Chicago, etc. Mostly POC leadership and still corrupt. Nothing Changes.

My point is that when there is WHITE leadership in police departments or other agencies, many always say "We need more POC in higher ranks!" Well here we are, an agency run by POC...

Now what? Where is your argument now? Department of corrections is a MESS!

Wait, perhaps it has ZERO to do with Race? Imagine that. Corrupt people come in ALL COLORS! Wow!!! Who knew????

So we have this article in the OP. The article doesn't mention anything about anybody saying more POC s are needed in the higher ranks DOC, nor did the thread starter
"Black" ,"color" , "race" , none of this is mentioned in the article "white" used only pertaining to a dress color

So is this what you are going to do with any article that has a black person in it, turn it into some kind of racial commentary ?

^^ All articles about the police dept not the DOC

and the topic article was not even about diversity in the DOC, It is about a big retire bash some chiefs had which has no relevance

from the article

So these chiefs at Rikers are "running your city" ?

And they are retiring and still "running your city"

Quote:
The event reportedly cost at least $15,000, sources claimed, although it was not clear who foot the bill.
So they don't even know who paid for it and they are blaming this retirement bash for something?
