Again AK mentions in the video that when they decided to expand the mall, the traffic volume on that street (where it cuts the expansion into 2 sections on the street and below street levels) was such that it was deemed not feasible due to the amount of traffic already there.
Exactly. The expansion was done later on and they had to expand using the two sections, unfortunately. And not ideal to permanently remove that busy street.
I do think they should add some sort of pedestrian path in the middle where people can cross. It's kind of crazy that you would have to walk to the end of the block to get to the pedestrian area or you could jaywalk to the other side, which is not recommended due to how busy the street is.
I hate QCM. Always super congested. I use to always go to Roosevelt Field Mall instead.
I went to Roosevelt Field last month and it was interesting. Most people there don't wear masks. So it was nice and liberating to finally shop in a Covid-free environment.

The end of the block with the traffic light is very close to the entrances/exits to the mall. It simply doesn't make sense to add another crosswalk just a few feet away.
Queens Center serves a very dense part of the borough so no surprise it would be active, I used to go there a lot when I lived in Woodhaven and Forest Hills.
I went to NJ on Monday to check out American Dream - what a boondoggle that place is, all that money and all those years to build it, main part is less than half leased and the stores there mostly cater to trash fashion for 16 year olds, the luxury wing right now only has Saks and about four other stores, and one of the big non-shopping attractions (the indoor ski/snowboard park) is closed til the end of the month due to some unspecified damage. Was overall pretty empty for a holiday Monday. Little kids would have fun with the attractions there but otherwise absolutely no reason to shop there.
