Since NYS and NYC are overwhelmingly controlled by one party, this policy would probably have no net effect on the political situation. Assuming that these new voters will support the party and vote for more public assistance. The more concerning aspect is that it would set a precedent for other communities to further erode citizenship.
The first time i saw Ydanis Rodriguez was during the kiko Garcia riots he was organizing drug dealers protest Marches then the first he ran for office he had to withdraw from the campaign most of his campaign funds were from a indicted later convicted drug dealer!! I'm not surprised he's behind this crap I bet his wife was behind his salary boost push!!
A citizen of what exactly? This is at best an economic zone, and probably not even a good economic zone. A nation with disparate peoples and beliefs where groups increasingly hate each other and trash the entire history and founding ideals. Seems unsustainable to me.
On a practical level, I don't think that the NYC policy of allowing non-citizens to vote will have any effect. It is already a one-party state and city. Presumably the non-citizens will vote for the ruling party in order to receive public assistance and other benefits.
Wondering if Adams will be de Blasio 2.0 or something different. So far, it's not looking good.
I think it would be funny if every single citizen and resident of NYC would claim they’re undocumented and go vote in every voting center in the city. How would the city tell if you have no papers? Vote ten times for the guy or gal you want at different places. Then go vote as yourself at the voting place you’d normally go to!
The lawsuit has already been filed, by (amongst others) Inna Vernikov, Brooklyn City Council woman. NYS constitution states «*citizens*» can vote.
So I doubt it will stand. She is herself a naturalized American citizen and immigration lawyer.
But the Democratic Party would do anything to increase their voting base, showing how desperate they are.
I was naturalized a few years ago and I am strongly against it, what is the point of being a US citizen then?
