There are plenty like him. He’s just the one getting the attention ATM. Why do you think NYC is so bloated with bureaucracy and waste?
Everything this city (and State) does costs way more, takes way longer and is done way poorly than anywhere else.
If you were able to track down every single dollar of that billion+ dollars Chirlane deBlasio spent on ThriveNYC for example, you would see that most of it went to folks like him.
Since the city has known about the financial entanglements and irregularities since 2017, why does it take almost five years to stop the manna from flowing into corrupt hands?
How disingenuous is the spokesman for the city: "“We and the mayor were crystal clear that if CORE did not reform in response to our corrective actions, the city would have no choice but to end our relationship with them,” Mr. McGinn said in a statement. “CORE’s repeated defiance has made clear they do not intend to change their ways or get their act together.”"
Neither the city nor CORE seem particularly upset about the money - only that they were publicly exposed.

Sensing a pattern here. If she pled guilty to stealing $2MM, she probably stole $6MM with most of it in some offshore bank account.

A New York woman who ran a homeless shelter in the Bronx has admitted to stealing millions meant for the nonprofit, and spending it to fund her luxury lifestyle instead.
Ethel Denise Perry was the executive director at Millennium Care, a nonprofit that ran a homeless shelter in the Bronx that received $10 million in funding from the New York City Department of Homeless Services. But instead of using that money to feed and provide social services to homeless families, Perry used it to go shopping, according to a release from the New York State Attorney General's Office.
On November 19, Perry admitted to illegally taking $2 million from Millennium Care beyond her official salary, and spending it at luxury retailers including Tiffany & Co., Ferragamo, and Bergdorf Goodman, and on her car payments and gym memberships, according to The New York Times. She also used the nonprofit to hire her brother and nephew, paying them "far in excess of their reported salaries," according to the attorney general's office.
