I'm just glad I had the foresight and lack of fear to leave when I did. The riots bumped my pension the equivalent of 4 more years on the job. If I'd have been afraid of the unknown, the riot OT would no longer be pensionable for me. I'd be stuck finishing out 3 more years just to get back to where I am now. Screw that job. It's a dumpster fire. Every single friend of mine wants out. I was speaking to my cousin who is a very well established detective about retirement yesterday. I just hope he leaves and takes the much better job I offered him.
my buddy was a lieutenant in nypd and retired years ago ..he took a job as head of security at meryll lynch /bank of america …great job , lots of travel .
I was offered a travel job with a company that provides security for a particular major media. Way more money, but it would take me away from my family too much for my comfort. I was deployed 4 times as a soldier. I earned the right to stay home with my family until my last breath.
I work freelance for law firms. We bill them the same way they bill the public. You know how that goes.
75% of my billable time is created either at my home computer or in my car listening to podcasts.
Well earned? No self respecting person would work for BDB or the clowns in city hall. They so it because it pays well for what amounts to being a figurehead doing bull**** "work".

You sure you don't miss NYC? I see you comment often on how you left NYC and thanking NY'ers for working hard to support your pension.
