The Bronx can't get a break. Gas explosions are no joke. My mom's building had a gas leak and thank goodness someone alerted Con Ed. The gas was turned off for about a week until Con Ed discovered and fixed it.

One person has died and at least seven others are injured after a possible gas explosion caused a massive fire and partial building collapse Tuesday in the Bronx.

According to the FDNY, crews are still battling a two-alarm fire inside a residential building located at 869 Fox Street near Intervale Avenue in Longwood.

The NYPD says an 82-year-old female was pronounced dead at Lincoln Hospital with smoke inhalation.

Additionally, a 77-year-old female is listed in critical condition and a 68-year-old female was transported to Lincoln Hospital, both for smoke inhalation, police say.

The NYPD says five police officers were also being treated for smoke inhalation at Lincoln Hospital and are listed in stable condition.
