The latest unfortunate comedy around this important issue is Gov. Hochul's useless 'safety and justice' meeting with DA Bragg over his policies. Apparently she can remove him from office but of course never will.
Manhattan has very powerful business interests. I give this clown 1 year max if he doesn't roll back his policies. Watch him get pushed out either through media pressure or some dirt.
Why do you think Hochul even called for a meeting so quick?
Well, Alvin might yet serve a useful purpose. With that push on to rename those 10 U.S. military installations named after Confederate officers (e.g., Fort Hood, Fort Benning, etc.) Uncle Sam can save taxpayers a whole lot of money by stating that Fort Bragg is not actually named after Confederate general Braxton Bragg but rather -- you guessed it -- Alvin Bragg. But in that case, they would have to slightly modify the spelling to F(a)t. Bragg.
I am sorry for this woman's loss, but the idea that cops are entitled to have the people they want to punish them the way they want them to be punished is just fascist bull****. It's not your call. You serve the people, not rule them.
Interesting...what do you mean exactly?
What Laws are the police looking to Enact vs. one's that should left Dormant ???
Ultimately it's going to depend on key voter blocs who support the ruling Party in NYC changing their voting patterns and considering alternative public policies. Until then, nothing is going to change.
Moving forward I hope the city doesn't give her a hard time about collecting benefits and other entitlements. She just called out Bragg and other politicians and embarrassed them nationally. They don't like that and will respond in petty passive-aggressive ways. However, kudos to her for saying what needed to be said and what should be said on a regular basis until real change happens.
RIP and THANKS brave officer Rivera, condolences to his wife and admiration for her strength to point to people supporting the conditions that encourage crime in the city, ie, the conditions that led to her husband's death. I understand there was a strong show of support by fellow officers and fellow New Yorkers at the funeral. I would have certainly gone had I been in town.
