Politicians have an effect. It's just a question of who they're working for. Politicians in NYC like to work for the the wealthy (campaign contributions to get into office) and the "poor" (to buy votes and stay in office).
Makes no difference to me who they "work" for, they're supposed to work for everybody and they don't which is why I don't follow politics. Money is in everyone's interest.

There are many things we have different opinions about, but I agree with you on this one.

"Makes no difference" but you're a beneficiary of the system's policies.

"They're supposed to work for everybody". Is that a joke of a statement? They clearly don't work for everybody and I told you who they like to work for in NYC.

I don’t know if NYC will come back but I do know I’m not sticking around here to see if it happens. NYC doesn’t function without a mayor that’s willing to crack down hard on crime (including taking necessary action to prevent it in the first place). If you have a problem with that (and much of NYC apparently does), enjoy watching the city stumble along for decades. There’s many other places in this world worth living.

Inadvertently benefitted. The two politicians who introduced Mitchell-Lama are now deceased, and the program was created decades before I was born.

Have you benefitted from any politicians?

If my parents had this same energy in the 1970s-1980s, I wouldn't have grown up here

Godspeed

Better off with DC or Marvel
And you keep believing that these overpaid people haven’t done anything to affect your life. Look all around you. Everything you can or can’t do is decided by those overpaid people. Your house, your car, your food, your heat, your electricity, your kids school, your health, your marriage, your job, your paycheck, even the trees on your street, literally everything you have, use and need somehow at some point, those overpaid people determined it for you.

Check out what Republicans in NY say. They tend to be moderates.

If that's the case, they haven't done that good of a job IMO. So therefore I don't vote.

You can definitely choose not to vote. I no longer bother either. But if you think you’re not affected by politics you’re crazy.
