He had a protective order it said, and called the police when she showed up last year. He certainly did not want to be involved. Unless he is made of stone thats an awful jolt knowing your sister died on a subway platform alone.

Theres no mention of other family specifcally or partner for her in the past or present. Sounds like she was alone for a long time before the move to her fathers. Another factor that was a disatvantage for a person in a crisis.

You are on your own in this world so you better make sure you can stand on your own two feet and fend for yourself.

The brother has an apartment on the Upper East Side. He couldn’t find the money to pay his sister’s rent in Queens? All he had to do was pay her rent, not like he had to move her into his apartment. He knew she was troubled and was going to be homeless.

Well, it seemed like the whole family was cold. Father moved to Fla to be with his girlfriend. Brother going on with his own life. That said she sounded like a handful. Some people cannot be helped and will just drag you down with them. Everyone has to lead their own life the best way they know how. Sad all the way around though.

Even with her hoarding issues, I don't see what that had to do with her working to support herself. What was she doing for THREE years when she was living rent free? Sometimes families do a lot and at some point, they have to put their foot down and go on living their life. She was a grown woman and if her own brother took out a restraining order against her, then it wasn't just because. As was said, sometimes people are a mess and they will take everyone down with them if allowed.

It's always easy to blame someone else. With all those 4 legged creatures, very few would allow a relative/friend to move into their home.

Very unfortunate - but such is life. Eventually people get tired of enabling/freeloading and tough love is given.

I’m sure thousands of homeless in NYC have similar/worse stories w/ no solution in sight.

She owned a house which was foreclosed upon. She lived for free for 3 years. At some point people have to seek and accept the resources available to them. Family members cant alwayd be expected to set themselves on fire to keep others warm. She seemed to have refused many opportunities to get help

I just took a look at her Facebook photos. I think I see some photos of her house, the one she got foreclosed on before moving in with her father. To me the photos are really creepy and look like a depressed person lived there. So I guess she was fighting some inner demons.

Here's one photo https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid...92.-2207520000..

and all the photos are here https://www.facebook.com/audreytheartist/photos_by

However, the paintings she made are actually pretty nice and not depressing at all.

the DN is looking for sympathy for this lady, but this may be the classic case of you did this to yourself, now deal with the consequences. Notice how the article left the amount of rent she was paying out? Her father left her a legacy lease which is dirt cheap rent compared to today's market value. Had she just made partial payments on her rent control apartment in those 2 years she wouldn't have been evicted, COVID starts and she is still living in that apartment today rent-free with her hoard of cats. A storage unit, a 10x20 is at least $200 a month. I hope she wasn't stuffing her cats in a 5x9.
