I like carts. I do love coffee, but I rarely spend a lot for it. One really memorable place I had a great coffee was at The NY Historical Society. I just looked it up, it isn't their cafe it's just attached. It's called Parliament and it was really worth it.
Manhattan Special Coffee Soda, it's the best, old school Italian American native NYC roots. It's been a staple in my diet forever. Any coffee lovers here who haven't ever tried it should do so.
People who pay more than $2/cup of coffee are being foolish w/their money. Just use the hispanic coffee brands like the $1.50-$2 bricks of pure espresso and make it yourself at home. When I drank coffee it is paid for by the employer - e.g. it is FREE! Typically, this is either in Folgers or the coffee blister packs in the employee break room.
You weren't drinking coffee. You were drinking dirty water.
It is generally $4 for a coffee to go plus $1 tip and you get no smile from some unsociable young barista. Or it is a $6 cappuccino to go plus $1 tip. It is made by an arrogant young barista with no social skills, and a $1 tip is not enough for them. Want to buy yourself a mediocre $6 scone to go? No thanks anymore. At cheaper places it’s $3 and cross your fingers that the milk or a cup rim does not make you sick due to no hygiene knowledge.
Coffee is huge profit margin business and the price keeps rising? The baristas today lack social skills and having conversation is part of their job. Unfortunately for them, I am done with these places. My money and generosity is going elsewhere.
Savings:
$5 per day!
$35 per week!!
$259 per month!!!
$1,800 saved per year!!!!
You're not paying for the coffee. As with most take out in NYC you're paying for rent and wages.

$4 a cappuccino in The Bronx Southeastern Europeans cafes/bars.... and you get the real genuine cultural experience.
Another place on Steinway Street in Astoria charges $3 for a Cappuccino, the owner comes straight from Sicily, and it looks exactly like your neighborhood cafe in Napoli.
South Brooklyn has a bunch of similar spots too.
I don't go to these spots with snooty green-haired baristas fresh out of California and Minnesota.
is that why Adams is ranting? He wants us to come to NYC to overpay for everything!
