Whether the report is biased/trustworthy or not is a subject that I really don't have enough direct experience to speak on.

What I can say is that while NYC businesses are shuttering left and right, I went down to West Palm Beach recently and it was PUMPING. On a Sunday night people were all over the streets at restaurants and hanging out having a good time. There was so much traffic and business was BOOMING.

North Carolina and Nashville,Tn are also thriving.

Life is cyclical, like the Great Migration of 1916-1970 (though that was mostly African-American only, this shift incorporates more cultures), there is a major shift in demographics. Though instead of moving from the South to the North, it's been flipped.

NYC is on the decline, and needs visionary leadership to steer it in the right direction. The obsession of current local leaders to "un-ring the bell" of 2020 and make everyone go back to how things used to be is failing.

Every city has its day (Pompeii, Troy, Ani), but those days eventually pass.

Has NYC's?

Well said.
Of course it's failing and any politician who thinks you can magically go back to 2019 is an idiot.
Actions have consequences and unfortunately a lot of businesses had to needlessly suffer from actions of these dirtbag politicians.

Same experience I had. In fact one of the most ardent liberals and mask supporter that I know made multiple trips down south. My family member operates a few Airbnb's and his business was booming during the height of the pandemic. Many of his guests were from up north.

When I visited the southern states and walked into businesses I was usually the odd one out in my mask.

The friend who made multiple trips is vaxxed and got 2 booster shots. Still caught Covid.

I drew the line after the second vaccine (only took it because they threatened to fire us). Hubby and I were discussing our options if the booster shots became mandatory.

Ever since Bloomberg democrats in this city have been the party of "no". Ban this, don't do that... Albany has been going same way past decade along with some other local NYS areas as well. But then again it's a disease that has affected nearly all democratic run governments at state and or local level, with California being exhibit "A".

Yet these same places now are wondering why people are packing up and moving out....

Why is it that Democrats continue to spread the lie that only rednecks are Republicans? The Republican party has changed a lot. You see many people of color and LGBT people who simply don't like far left democrat policies.

Look what's happening in Shanghai with their strict COVID policies. People are screaming from their windows because they're not allowed to go out. The application that they're supposed to use to order food doesn't work or crashes so they're literally starving to death. There are drones watching people to see if they disobey and leave their apartments, not to mention that "health authorities" have placed a seal on doors to see if people have left their homes.

The worst is that they are killing cats and dogs of those who are infected with covid. That's terrible and inhumane.

Everyone here should know that there will never be zero COVID - that is complete BS. This is about control and that's where we are headed if we continue to vote for people who embrace far left covid lockdown policies, which clearly do not work. Why do people here insist on voting for the DeBlasio's, Cuomo's and Hochel's? Because they're "humane?" They're not humane!

In their ability to become 'tolerant', they have become intolerant. Stereotyping people in the same way that they think it is abhorrent for others to do.

Many more minorities and immigrants are leaning 'conservative' as this is the way they are raised and their belief systems align.

They are religious, they are ambitious, they are conservative and are against the coddling of criminals. They are not ok with working hard and being taxed to extremes for politicians to waste their money on useless programs.

They are from countries with strict immigration laws. Especially the ones who have waited years/decades to immigrate or have family members also waiting, they do not agree with the mass immigration of undocumented.

Maybe 10% of the people I know I hyper liberals. Most minorities I know lean conservative in their beliefs. They just vote with the democrats out of habit.

FIFY

There aren't many true southerners anymore outside of Mississippi and Alabama (although Alabama has some areas like Huntsville that might see growth soon as Atlanta, Nashville, and Charlotte overflow with Northern transplants).

At least 1/4 of people you'll meet in Virginia, NC, Northern GA, and Nashville are originally from the North. Particularly from New York.

While you are making jokes about people dying, NYC is dying as people are bailing this cesspool in DROVES!

I just got over this same conversation on Covid.

A family member of mine is a die hard Democrat and uses this tactic often.
Whenever I present facts a portion of my comment is removed and challenged.
Well how do you know your source is accurate? Where did it come from? and so on..
I respond in one of three ways " do your research " " prove to me that I'm wrong "
or simply ignore the question.

Imagine if a student asks his teacher " How do I know what you are teaching me is accurate "
and would have to constantly respond " What makes you think coming to school will make you smarter ? "

There's an old saying .........don't throw your pearls to swine.
Took me a while to understand it....but after meeting a few winners
in this city .....boy did I get it.............

Sometimes it's simply a waste of time......talking ...err... ummmm.....typing.
