My gripe with Chipotle: "What do you want on that?" If I wanted to decide how to prepare a dish, I would MAKE IT MYSELF. I have the same problem with Subway.

So I avoid BOTH.
So you want them to pick out what you want for you?

I want THEM to decide what they think are ideal combinations and present ME with the choice. I don't want to have to do their creative work FOR them.
Like going into KFC and being asked if I would like BREADING on my chicken, semolina or regular? what kind of oil do you want that fried in, corn or canola? do you want salt? Black or red pepper?

You can't really be comparing KFC to Chipotle. KFC is just greasy, low-quality fast food and they will offer it to you with the cheapest costs to them. At Chipotle, the customer experience should be better (I don't eat there since I'm not into so Mexican food like that, but some of my colleagues have ordered from there), particularly for people that are health conscious, hence higher prices, feeding the notion of better quality.
