I can get a bucket at Popeyes and a view of the ocean at McDonalds for 20 bucks.
I can buy a bag full of groceries for the same and cook up a better meal.
Do I need someone spoon feeding me for an extra $100 ?

I went there a few times for dinner, nice ambience & great food too! I'm sure it will be reopened again at some point, perhaps with new business owner. That area is too good to be abandoned, at least it's a great spot for tourists attraction.
I've been there a few time and enjoyed it a lot. Its a fantastic setting for a special meal. Too bad it's closing, but with high food and labor costs, and tourism only partly back, it's not entirely surprising. Hope that a new place can open there soon. I went to the other big Central Park restaurant, Tavern on the Green, years ago and hated it. Thought it was overpriced with mediocre food and rude service. Have not returned since it came under new owners. Maybe they've figured out how to make it work by now. It's the only Central Park restaurant now I believe.
