I'm sure when more information is released on the suspect it'll most likely be a middle aged Asian man or elderly Latino woman.

Yes these would work but the problem with the subway system (aside from MTA corruption) is that there are currently two very different types of rolling stock in service on both the "A" division (number lines) and the "B" division (letter lines)
You have the newer millennium "New Tech Trains" on the letter lines, the R143, R160 and R179 that are 60 feet long, as well as the older R46s from the 1970s and R68s from the 1980s that are each 75 feet long and have completely different door spacing. The old 70s and 80s stock won't even start getting replaced until 2025 due to ongoing manufacturing delays. Adding to the problem, the upcoming R211 trains to replace them will have MUCH wider doors than any of the existing letter line rolling stock, 58 inches instead of 50.
On the A division, you have the old 1980s R62s with 50 inch doors, and the newer millennium R142s with 54 inch doors that are staggered to allow for better passenger flow. R62 replacements have not yet been ordered, so don't expect them in service until 2030 maybe.

In the strict sense yes. However, there's always makeshift things we can do. Why not simply erect a low tech barrier made of plexiglass or something that at least creates some type of buffer? It doesn't have to be perfect, just enough to make this type of situation less possible.
I know she doesn't care. I'm just making fun of the Hochul supporters.
