It is the bird month and time to plan for the big stuffing dinner on Nov 24th. I have always mooched off friends in the past and am in the mood of giving back this year, but I am not so fond of patting and rubbing a big bird in my kitchen. What is your favorite place to pick up a pre-cooked, nicely flavored bird in NYC or via mail delivery? The link below offers too many options and I wanted to hear from those who might have tried any of them. TIA...

Not on the list, but I ordered a turkey from Popeyes the other year. I don't recommend it at all, though some people can't seem to get enough of it.

Whole Foods also does a turkey, which I've heard good things about.

I am dubious of Popeye’s turkey as well…I don’t want to risk my reputation of being a great host…

This sounds like the kind of question that New York magazine and the NYT would cover every year or two.

I second Boston Market. About 8 years ago my mother took a Thanksgiving vacation so we decided to cater at my father’s apartment. I ordered a huge package from Boston Market. It was very good. I wouldn’t be against using them again if the need arose.
