I'm visiting NYC this weekend with friends to see the Christmas lights/displays and do some holiday shopping. The weather looks to be sunny with the lows in the 30s but I know wind can also be a factor. My question is how to dress to stay warm. I have a good down coat but was specifically wondering if fleece lined leggings would keep me warm enough as we are walking around and in/out of stores for both the day time and night time? I am not a fan of layering pants if I don't have to and in general feel like my leggings are warmer than jeans. Thank you!
The weather doesn't look that cold to me. I think fleece lined leggings sound fine if you're comfortable in those. I personally wouldn't layer anything in addition to pants/jeans , like no thermals under the jeans as you'd start to overheat anywhere inside.

Also check the map for UNIQLO and Old Navy stores. If you're cold, you can always go in one of those and buy some warm stuff for cheap (esp. warm stuff at Uniqlo)
get a good down jacket with hood and you'll stay warm
