want to just celebrate a few hours in a hotel room on new years eve. Are there any hotels that are by the hour that are not a dump or housing homeless ?

Ohhh yes! Hourly hotels go way back... Used to call them "cheat sheets" back in day. Such places got or get good use by whooo-ahs to bring their clients.

No wonder I've never heard of them. I usually pick boutique hotels. These places sound incredibly sleezy.

Yes, like the no-tell motels on the other side of the creek in Jersey that have three-hour rates.

Richard Cottingham, the "Times Square Killer" used to pick up his hookers in TS and take them to either local hotels or the Jersey motels to torture and murder them.

Hahaha!! So they're essentially motels.... That makes more sense. That's what I've always known them by and avoid those.

Truckers use them, too, but generally they are for cheaters and/or people paying for sexual encounters.

I doubt someplace like the Marriott Marquis is going to rent a room on NYE for a few hours, hehehe.

That and those who want to step up from backseat of a 1987 Pontiac.

Being from SI you'd pull into certain parking lots of NJ spots and see so many familiar rides from your HS class or others you knew

Hourly and decent do not go hand in hand when looking to rent a room.
