You nailed it.
That is where all the businesses sit and they are taking a hit.
No people. No money. Rarely is crime and safety mentioned
when pushing the " You gotta live here button. "

I have been calling it for years. Sacrifice travel for safety. If I had to pick.
I would prefer neighborhoods like Ozone Park ,Howard Beach,Broad Channel and the Rockaways.
I would prefer neighborhoods like Bayside,Floral Park, Flushing and Kew Gardens.

Cheaper rents and safer neighborhoods in comparison to the rest of the so called Hottest neighborhoods.
I would feel comfortable going to work knowing my family is safe and with a much cheaper rent, saving for my future rather than throwing away my hard earned pay to the Landlord. Period.

If one wishes to find out about the neighborhood it would be wise to visit the houses of worship and the local business establishments.

All the answers are in the way people regard the importance of family , showing pride in the way they dress and driving well maintained
automobiles.

With the spike in crime around the city its time to revisit areas scoring in the low to mid
60's not because of the lack of amenities, distance, etc...but the lower crime rate.
Broad Channel, Rockaways, etc...

Good suggestion, but an area's businesses don't always reflect who lives where; 18th Ave may still have Italian businesses, as does Arthur Ave. People drive in to support the businesses, but the communities have changed.

Howard Beach is still holding on since it's expensive. Plenty of Italians... New Howard Beach I mean. Mill Basin is still mainly Italian and Jewish with some Russians. It'll stay that way for a bit longer since it too is expensive. Old Mill Basin however has flipped as the old whites die out there.

Right you are but then there are still houses of worship ,supermarkets and the local businesses.
Due diligence is required on your part in scoping out a neighborhood that you may one day want to call home.
There are numerous markers to look for.

The only marker that stands out alone is the Crime marker.
If the neighborhood has a lousy crime score I simply walk away from it...............

There is Old Howard Beach not often spoken about.
A quaint neighborhood. White ,Black,Brown,Yellow.
Hard working family owned homes with the A train
and bus service.Extremely low crime rates. Another
fine gem of a neighborhood in Queens.
