Would that help the rat problem?

Flaco the Owl Spreads His Wings, Devours Rats and Learns to Survive
Halley Barton was at a dinner party with friends on Saturday night when someone in the group shared the news that the Eurasian eagle-owl Flaco had coughed up a pellet of animal matter — rat fur and bones — in Central Park. The announcement, she said, had been greeted with cheers because it meant that Flaco, who had been loose from the Central Park Zoo for over a week, was learning to hunt for his meals and to survive outside captivity.
“It’s really exciting to see him learning how to catch his own rats,” said Ms. Barton.

There have been hawks and owls hunting in the park forever. The vermin reproduce fast enough to replenish their ranks.

A petition to call off the attempted return of Flaco to the zoo has seemingly succeeded. Police attempts at his capture have been discontinued.

Now if only we could find him a mate to increase the number of these rat-eaters.

We'll see how long he makes it on his own in the Park (or if he moves on.)

^^^^^ That's a stretch! Way to interject divisive politics into every thread.

Sad fact: The problem is that the hawks and owls are likely to eventually eat rats that have already been poisoned, and this kills the raptors also. So it's not a long-term solution to the vermin problem.

Also, Flaco is a nonnative species. He's from Asia and Europe. There are no wild owls that would be able to mate with him in this hemisphere.

We need to have biomass systems that turn waste into fuel for our buildings. Our rat problem skyrocketed when residential building incinerators were banned in NYC. Eliminate the waste, and we will eliminate the rats.

Flaco the escaped zoo owl can remain in the wilds of the city. Owls are mostly solitary animals and usually only interact with another animal during breeding season.

“Is he going to be lonely out there? That's a good question,” said Barrett. Poor Flaco.

Careful now. This is N.Y.C.

Is he going to be lonely out there?

Flaco may identify as a female or as a goose down winter coat.....................( Sarcasm )
