Typical for someone who has very little or zero understanding of statistics. One data point doesn't make a trend and the law of large numbers eventually prevails and there's a regression to the mean. That doesn't mean "things are getting better".

Having taken stats in grad school, I have a lot of understanding of statistics.

I also refuse to fall into a political narrative that leads to requests for initiatives that harm innocent people!

Most data like in those links is a cooked up lie and then also the media groups tend to purposefully skew the readers opinions like a mirror in a funhouse. No statistics course is required for this.

Demographics changed. Many middle class and native NY’ers moved out in the last two decades replaced by yuppies and immigrants, which tend to vote Democrat or not vote at all which results in low voter turnout which means that a small group makes the decision for everyone else.

Eric Adams pro.....
1) Data does show crime going down
2) Good relationship w/police union (180 degree change from predecessor!)
3) DC-37 deal, w/work from home provision, averts labor clash

Eric Adams con....
1) Perception of crime still a problem
2) Forced treatment of mentally ill a PR disaster
3) Some anti-crime goals limited w/o state cooperation

Mayor Adams no longer wants people to wear masks, as he claims that it's contributing to shoplifting...

He isn't wrong. A bunch of kids wrecked a Chinese Restaurant in College Point and of course, they were all wearing masks.

He is wrong. They were only wearing masks because they didn't want to catch Covid. They were just trying to be cautious!

Damn, if only there was more community outreach by the police none of this would happen.

Not sure why the owner called 911, should have called a social worker. I'm sure they could figure out the root cause.

The reason why shoplifting is going up is because police no longer arrest. What do shoplifters have to fear if there are no longer consequences for their actions?
