NYC crime-wise is not as bad as the media portrays it. If you have street marts, you will do OK in NYC and any major city that you go travel to.
exactly my thought lol. One thing NYC doesn't have yet is kidnappings and Sicaro type throat slashings! Remember the Columbian necktie? That's what I would've told the Columbian friend had they raised the NYC crime issue with me

Agree Someone coming from Bogota which is a third world city, confirmed by the latest video by Bald and bankrupt, https://youtu.be/9I61plMS2Yg thinking that NYC is a dump is a bit far fetched.

Maybe you should be able to do OK in a civilized city even if you don't have street smarts?

8.2 million NYC residents (different races, religion, traditions, customs, etc) + 100K+ outside NYS, NJ, CT, PA workers, Illegal citizens, and 50 million annual tourists in a small area = This is not an ordinary civilized city.

Still no excuse and neither is "there are a lot of poor people in New York" as someone of my acquaintance offered as an excuse recently.

You expect no issues in an actual melting pot of people, culture, races, traditions, class, etc. Sorry but you are delusional. Superman and Batman are not real. You need to be alert at all times everywhere on this planet.

What does meting pot have to do with anything? It's normal or OK to target people who are different from oneself? Please post your description so I can look out for you.

Jesus, you are dense. In a city with a large population of different races, cultures, religions, traditions, class, etc you will have crime.

Well, it's always been expensive, always been dirty, and always had strange people. Statistically, it's not unsafe, though.

Next time, they can try Naperville, Illinois. That's supposed to be safe. It's probably cheaper than NYC, too.
