What’s brainless idiocy is pretending that the NYC median income is sub $50K in one of the most expensive city’s in the world. How does that work? It’s a disingenuous and misleading statistic peddled by clowns who never mention how widespread welfare is in this city.

but all of nyc means little . a lot is diluted by low income and welfare cases that don’t actually live on the income at those levels

what counts is where you are or want to be plus your housing situation and how many are you supporting ?

here in bay terrace

What are the median and average incomes in Bay Terrace?
The average annual household income in Bay Terrace is $115,718, while the median household income sits at $102,384 per year.

on the other hand look at brownsville

The average annual household income in Brownsville is $47,426, while the median household income sits at $30,733 per year.

many lower incomes have housing subsidies, health insurance subsidies , etc , so they are not actually living on those incomes as they show

don’t forget when dealing with averages and medians many are above and below those incomes .

so all that matters is you.

it’s like asking how long is a rope ?

These numbers mean nothing when half the city is on some type of welfare program (many on multiple).

Also I make 6 figures. I do not feel poor at all which is what 36K is to me. Instead, just admit you have bad money habits instead of using a baseless study to hide your accountability.

Can I borrow a couple hundred Grand?

The numbers don’t show that. 18% of the city is in poverty: https://data.census.gov/all?t=Povert...0XX00US3651000

You can view the poverty rates by group within the city here(2021 1 year census data): https://data.census.gov/table?t=Inco...ST1Y2021.S1701

Are those the numbers by family? IMO, the percentage of families/households shower a clearer picture of the extent of poverty vice individuals.
