I used less electricity this month than March 2022 and the same amount of natural gas but my bill is 30% higher. Supposedly inflation reported in February was 6% but that is meaningless when home energy bills rise 30%.

In other news, in the near future NYC Government will require only sales of EVs in NYC and no gas car and also phasing out gas stoves, gas heater/dryer, and no oil burning heating systems.

Next year another 20% higher energy. Keep voting for these policies.

Also don't forget to keep working at companies that only give you 2% raises. (Pro tip: That's why the FED is keen on reducing inflation to 2%)

You know that Ukraine war ya'll fully support? This is how we are all funding it. Enjoy.

Cliff Notes:
- Europe runs on natural gas mostly for electric and heating
- The pipeline from Russia which carried natural gas was blown up by.. (not us lol...)
- Now the USA is the largest importer of natural gas to Europe (The US benefits from the pipeline being blown up but we didn't blow it up. lol)

We have a lower supply of natural gas in the US now because a lot of it is going to Europe, hence the higher electric (natural gas is used to produce electricity here) and heating costs.

Yet natural gas prices are near historic lows. Looks like not enough regulation of the utilities that used the Ukranian war to justify price increases that did not happen.

My ConEd bill has been up, but nothing like it was last year. One month I got a bill that was almost triple what it usually is.

they are not near historic lows , they are near the lows adjusted for inflation.

there is a big difference in this environment in price .

utilities buy future contracts to fix their costs for a period of time . they may have locked in prices many months ago at much higher prices not prices now .

the new contracts will reflect todays price down the road.

let’s see if they reflect that fact

No worries. Our Democrat president told us two years ago that all this inflation is just transitory. So hang in there for a couple more years!! Everything will be okay. Kind of like our border is secure AND closed. And you can keep your doctor, and your taxes won't go up.
