Idiots don't understand how the game is played. The city is looking for money. Real property taxes make up a substantial portion of NYC tax revenue. The same politicians who claim to care about you want to raise property taxes in order to raise revenue. These same politicians will then yell about how "greedy" LLs are.

Yeah well landlords don't run their buildings on air. They need MONEY to operate them, and the City continues to raise property taxes, not to mention the increased costs in water and heating that has skyrocketed. Either the rents get raised, or landlords have to start cutting somewhere to offset those costs. It's that simple.

Who is "they"? You do know that traditionally, they start high, and then drop when renters start howling?
