Good time to move on to another state where you can afford.
Plenty of green lands out in the country.

Newsflash most Americans cannot afford to live in the US. Those new yorkers who can't afford nyc will struggle in their new state. I guess an extra 100 sq ft of housing might make the suffering bleed less.

Either make more money and stop complaining or move on.

You would be shocked at the amount of square footage you can get in the midwest for $20K on your own house.

That's like a $200/month mortgage

You don't even have to go to the Midwest. Just go Upstate. For instance, I posted this information in a thread in another C-D forum: https://www.city-data.com/forum/65189240-post12.html

So, even by moving to certain areas of Upstate, you can get a lot of property and even land relatively "cheap".

Yeabut you have to either move there with money or otherwise already have it, they sure aren't paying NYC money in flyover country. That goes for Florida, Arizona, North Carolina, etc...

You can buy nice properties all over USA in areas like Atlanta, North Carolina, etc.. but again what seems "cheap" to us is because we have NYC money. For people who live in these areas all their lives or whatever and make local money housing local housing costs aren't always cheap.
