I'd asked before about recommendations for ophthalmologists for cataracts:

https://www.city-data.com/forum/new-...manhattan.html

Luckily, NYC has a lot of excellent doctors.

But I'm trying to figure out if there's any official place that compares them. By "official" I mean, not any site that collects reviews from the public, but maybe a medical organization that lists problems like disciplinary actions of lawsuits?

Thank you. I actually know about Castle Connolly, and have used them several times.

The problem is really more of trying to choose between a number of good doctors - wishing for someone particularly good with cataracts. And then the dark mystery of trying to choose between visual options, since you can now choose what kind of vision you'd like, maybe a combination of far/near sighted. But even the Academy of Ophthalmology doesn't provide anything.

And a lot of TERRIBLE doctors as well. I have had a wealth of them.

Doctors would never allow for a trustworthy medical ratings site. It could drive the terrible doctors into a field they are more qualified for, like trash pickup, or used car sales.

That said, I need a "not terrible" GP. If anyone has any suggestions for a primary care physician in Manhattan, preferable East Side, please share. I am not looking for Doctor Schweitzer but would like to avoid Dr. Mengele.

Castle Connolly seems trustworthy for recommending good doctors, but it would be helpful if some place could help with bad doctors. Like mentioning if a doctor had been sued an unusual number of times or if he'd been disciplined by the local board.

Sports Medicine @ Chelsea - good docs there. Only negative is they recently ‘merged’ by some conglomerate so getting thru on the phone can be confusing the first couple times.
