Sad end to a religious order of women long associated with New York City and State. St. Vincent's hospitals, Foundling Hospital, College of Mount Saint Vincent are but a few famous examples.

"After much prayer and contemplation, they made a tough decision that marked the beginning of the Catholic congregation’s end. They will no longer accept new members, and announced in an April 27 statement that they are now on a "path to completion."

Let me guess, Jesus let them down or they ran out of money?
Isn’t it crazy that kids these days are just not buying that whole man in the sky spook story?

Good for them closing down.

My guess is that they still operate like how American church charity organizations were always intended to with goodness and love.

Today all of the other charities are not really charities anymore because they are blatantly and underhandedly committing immigration and labor crimes on a very large scale. The charities today are anti American, they are pro invasion, they treasonously work alongside clandestine military operations that support the illegal invaders while stealing from real Americans.

Catholic charity groups have completely and absolutely been corrupted to the core and they lie if they say they otherwise.

I am glad they are calling it quits.

Such anger and bitterness towards a bunch of old ladies? Wow.

"they treasonously work alongside clandestine military operations "

Yes- those 86-year-old women are really a front for the black ops groups.

You misread or I was not clear enough.
I think this sister group was conservative Catholic.
Meanwhile every other charity group in the city is over-actively anti American and completely abusing the original intent of these organizations being loving and caring.

Then you thought wrong!

Do yourself a favor and research Sisters of Charity before disgracing yourself further by making ignorant remarks.

If you bothered to read linked article Sisters of Charity of NY are winding down for pretty much same reasons Catholic religious orders nation or world wide are; lack of new entrants.

Historically females had few options for careers other than marriage. Nursing, teaching (primary and perhaps secondary education), and the convent (for Catholics) were pretty much only options open. What jobs females could get were either in domestic service or later huge range of retail, factory and service jobs commonly known as "pink ghetto".

That all began to change by 1960's with passage of various anti-discrimination laws. Long story short women have vastly more educational and career opportunities than in past so huge numbers are just no longer interested in entering religious orders.

So decline in popularity of religion has nothing to do with it?
