If we use Instacart and the service was not to our expectations, we have 2 hours to change the tip in the app. Doordash needs to upgrade their app so that you have the option to decrease the tip through the app if you feel the service was sub-par. Having to contact customer service to do so is cumbersome.

Congestion pricing should be charged to delivery services to fund the battery fires in NYC. Also clogging up sidewalks and mowing down the pedestrian needs to be taxed. We can call it the lazy tax that fatten up NYers

While I agree with you - I think they are trying to discourage people who would put down a big tip and then change it after delivery just because they are cheap. You have to put effort into calling customer service and it's probably recorded for that address - too many of these and they'd likely not be able to use Doordash.
The delivery people on the apps know if there's a tip or not. It doesn't show directly, but they can tell if you've tipped or not based on how much they're getting paid to deliver your order. So if your orders keeps getting dropped by different drivers it's most likely because you didn't tip and your order will get tossed around a few other drivers until someone takes it. Most will take it if your low paying order is on the way to their other orders so that they're not going out of their way just to deliver a low paying order.
You couldn’t pay me to use these delivery apps. If the person who showed up was a verified legal citizen then maybe I would order delivery, but in NYC the deliveries are all ran by this migrant nonsense.
