Guys - has anybody seen this and are they giving out tickets even if you are 1mph over speed limit? On the LIE, I see plenty of drivers going way past 50, are all of them getting these tickets between main st & kissena?
I do not know about the LIE but my friends and relatives in Queens have told me that all the speed cameras make driving in Queens somewhere between a hassle all the way to a living nightmare. You have to be constantly look at your speedometer in a way that is different from most other places.
Someone mentioned Union Turnpike in particular as annoying, but I am sure it is widespread across the borough.
I guess it matters where you live or whether you drive often or not. If you are one of those people who usually takes public transit, then you probably think speed cameras are good because they slow down traffic. But if you live in Queens, Staten Island or outer parts of Brooklyn and the Bronx, and you drive alot, you probably hate the cameras.
article mentions the only enforcement is in work zones so far. I pass one on the Sag Parkway here on LI, and there is a warning sign. The radar was mounted atop a small white SUV
