The bike lanes were created to create more problems for cars in an effort to force more people out of their cars. There never was any real demand for bike lanes and the lanes actually cause more pollution by taking space away from cars, trucks and even buses.
When I lived in NYC I rode my bike all over the city, but never to work. I walked to work or took mass transit. I did not want to get to work sweaty from a bike ride, there was no place to store the bike, and the weather in NYC is not consistent for daily bike riding to work.
You think that bikers actually follow the rules? How about all of the bikes on the sidewalks, there are more violations by scooters and bikers daily because they're not being regulated at all.
It doesn't really matter, the ones who will suffer the most are people who pay to go out and have to get stuck in traffic or get stuck when the subway broke down.
People shouldn't have to be regulated. People should just do the right thing.... period.
No one would dispute that cars are still the predominant method of transportation.
But part of government's job is to lead citizens down paths that are better for health or environmental reasons. I personally hate bike lanes, but I'd never pretend they aren't a smart option.
Bike lanes are awful and cycling should never be considered as a mode of transportation.
Bus lanes can be useful if implemented properly, but for the most part in NYC, they aren't. They are mainly just placed to purposely cause traffic to get worse, Woodhaven Blvd is the perfect example.
Coming up Third Avenue other night noticed the new bike lanes are effing huge. From about 59th north between new wide bus lane on east side of avenue, and same for bikes on west there are only now two lanes for vehicles going north.
City is doing same for many bike lanes across city. Tenth avenue now also has wider bike lanes taking away from motor vehicles.
A lot of young people are so dumb willing to risk their lives just to save a few bucks by biking. Take the subway or bus. It won’t help the environment whether they bike or don’t. When some of them grow up they will join the ranks. Right now too many of them have been indoctrinated by false ideologies and virtual signaling.

I don't think they do it to save money. They obviously have to buy a bike.
Many of the liberal hipster types that you see riding bikes around do it due to a superior complex that they have as they really believe they're saving the planet and due to that they think of themselves as being above people who drive cars. This is also the reason why they routinely blow red lights and ride around all over streets in a dangerous manner, then they wonder why so many of them end up getting seriously injured or even killed. Nevermind the fact that all of them can accomplish the same thing by simply walking. It's not like NYC doesn't have sidewalks almost everywhere or anything.

More evidence that Liberalism is a DISEASE
