BMW, you are an amazing reservoir of great information about the city and its environs. Your knowledge and writing skills combined with your willingness to share your information is fantastic! I'm sure I speak on behalf of everyone when I say you're a definite asset to citydata here in NYC.
Thanks, Miles. I do try to help someone as best I can, since it can be daunting to move anywhere in the Tri-State area, much less some sections of the city. I appreciate the compliment, and it's reciprocal as I know you also strive to give people useful information regarding life in the city.
And, who would have thought that stairways in Riverdale can be avenues for crime? It's not serious crime, but still, something originally built with the intention to ease a long walk up a tall hill has evolved to serve a secondary purpose, though mostly on the fringes of the neighborhood and generally only a first flight. There's a flight of stairs from Kappock to Knolls Crescent where there's a nice little shopping center, and those steps are completely fine since they are in the middle of Spuyten Duyvil.
One does have to watch out for me when I'm in the neighborhood, though, since I am one of the crazy people who use the neighborhood steps to walk/run up and down them a few times for fun and sport, when one doesn't want a relatively flat outdoor area.

Oh, so you're the fella that almost knocked me over as he was running haphazardly up and down the stairs and muttering to himself, "I've got to get back to my laptop and see what's on citydata." I think you were gathering some more info regarding Riverdale vs. Westchester so I'll give you a a pass this one time since it's you.
Thank you very much for all the very useful and insightful information you have provided us.
Also, the additional info. on steps (which we never could´ve or would´ve thought of) is useful.
Again, thank you for the time you spent answering alle these questions!
I agree BMW--you are amazing with the level of detail you provide as well. Thank you.
You're welcome. I hope you have a safe time parking in Riverdale.

LOL...I appreciate that, especially since it's a pain in the neck to try to post via mobile device while walking.
