I found a few affordable places in Brooklyn to buy, particularly, around Nostrand Ave. and the Winthrop and Church Ave stop on the 2/5 line. Does anyone have any first hand experience about this area? I work a standard 9-5 work week and have a car.

Anyone care to chime in on this neighborhood which I guess is known as either East Flatbush or Prospect Lefferts Gardens.

Thanks

East Flatbush is primarily a Caribbean neighborhood. I heard the crime rate was high but when I went through there I saw nice houses and the area looked a lot safer than the one I came from.

Yeah, I heard it was rough there as well and when I drove by this past weekend, around Downstate and Nostrand, it didn't seem *that* bad.

I don't live too far from there. Nice area of hard working, church going West Indians. Nothing to be worried about. Just show Respect.

Thanks, that's what it seemed like. I was there on Sunday and there were lots of church busses going around so it seemed okay. I'm just unsure about what happens after dark but I guess that can be said about anywhere.

yeah it might get a little rowdy on the weekends, but that's because West Indian people know how to get on bad

2 runs all the time and the 5 runs weekdays I think

great area to live in although the houses are small- amazing food in the area- and wait until Labor Day Weekend

geez and ages- jam time your time carnival time!

the neighborhood you're looking at is actually the border of flatbush and east flatbush. shooting incidents do happen, but they're usually more on a personal basis, not random, like fights at a club or nonsense like that. some blocks are quiet, while some are rowdy.

Check the morning news. There are two guys going around robbing stores at gunpoint in e flatbush. Dangerous area! Maybe it won't bother you if you fit into that mode and are accustomed to it. If you have kids or a family you would have to be insane to move there no matter what race you are.
