Indeed, they do tend to take the "community" name seriously in New Jersey.

I went to Rutgers and enjoyed myself a lot there. As a large school, there were many student organizations, activities, and work opportunities to take advantage of. Rutgers definitely has a "better" name than the other schools on your list, so that might be a factor you want to consider. Although its no Harvard or Yale, its the type of thing that gets you noticed more in certain situations.

How easy is it to commute to New Brunswick from other towns and cities in NJ like some in Hudson, Essex, or Union counties for examples?

My vote is for Rutgers. My wife and brother-in-law went there. It's a great school, academically and career-wise (which is all you should be concerned about) and I would say superior to either CCNY or Kean.

Thanks for the advice. Lol, yeah that is all I'm concerned about. I'm not one of those people factoring in what school is the best party school. I do know some people who do go to college just for fun. I have two kids, no time for me to party.
