You have a great attitude,my friend. That is a good thing about NY.So many of us still enjoy it on that level even after many years.Impossible to be bored.
It's the greatest city in the world! You'd have to go pretty far out of your way to call this city home and be bored here.
It's true; this is the complaining capital of the United States. But...so what? Honestly, what's a day without a little complaining? (See--I just did it there!)
Maybe because after 9/11, anything else is just a cakewalk? Plus as the previous poster said, New Yorkers don't keep their feelings bottled up inside of them, as people do in other places. Letting it out, cools you off.
Cyrus next time you are bored and lonely...why not come to the board and ask whether someone would like to join you in your NYC stroll..I am sure there are others that are bored and looking for fun too.
You can be depressed anywhere. It's just a state of mind. After living 40+ years in NYC I couldn't wait to escape the noise, crowding, pollution, traffic, obnoxious people. Now, after a year in a bleak, dead end, one cow town upstate I miss the excitement, jumping on a bus or subway and and being anywhere from the beach to Broadway in less than an hour, recreational, entertainment & sports venues, endless food choices, lots more sex (sorry, dating) opportunities, lots more opportunities, period. Go out and get your sense stimulated. If you can't find something to do in NYC check your pulse.
I don't know Fred - visit the Florida Forum - they have to be the worst complainers of all. Honestly, I have never seen on any of these forum's people who dislike living where they are and voice it the way they do.
I don't think NYer complain about where they live, they complain about subways, other people, and sundry daily annoyances big and small. Not in this forum but in daily life.
When I moved to Mass. I would complain with my customary gusto about the kinds of things I've complained about all my life around NYC, expecting to hear agreement and forge some new friendships. Imagine my dismay when I realized that in Mass. one may complain only to one's closest friends! All the faux pas I made!
