For all the guys waiting to get on this job....hold on tight. Look for other employment in the meanwhile. If they want you to work 25/50 with no overtime calculated into your pension then this is a totally different job. They think we are a joke? We devised our own 20 year pension by paying into NYCERS extra money for 10 years and now they are going to want you to pay that money forever and stay longer and do more and die trying.

This job has a VERY significant "wear and tear" factor. We deserve what we have and then some. How you will be expected to do an extra 5 years MANDATORY, behind the truck no less.

To every sanitation worker who reads this today.....THIS IS AN 8 HOUR JOB. It works both ways. Preserve your body so that you do not sell yourself short. It is not out of laziness. It is out of self respect. Self worth.

We are taking a reduction in our headcount through attrition.....as per policy as of July 1st. They will not be looking to replenish who leaves. They will be reducing the manpower for cleaning functions. What was always touted as our "first priority" is taking a backseat to collection. However this should put us at 1,000 over. They are hoping that truck cuts generate enough manpower to accomplish our cleaning functions..... i.e. baskets and MLP AFTER newly revised half trucks.

WAKE UP. YOU DESERVE WHAT YOU HAVE ..... IF YOU EXPECT TO SURVIVE EITHER FISCALLY OR PHYSICALLY THEN TAKE YOUR SAFETY INTO ACCOUNT.

IT'S AN 8 HOUR JOB. TAKE YOUR TIME. WORK SAFELY.
great post man

still business as usual here...most of the guys are aware of everything FULLTRUCK just posted, but the majority either ignore it/pretend it doesn't exist or just don't care...any more possible negative repercussions (as if truck cuts, cleaning after relays, etc. aren't enough) are going affect the most junior guys (layoffs) or guys who aren't even hired yet (Tier 5), not them

other than Q8 and BK18, which don't dump at all, are there even any districts left that AREN'T running districts? meaning the majority of guys don't dump?

My SS went to a LMM and they wanted 9 collection trucks a week cut... They started to walk out when they called them bak and long story short they got them down to 5 trucks a week.... Which i guess is a truck a day....

They were going to cut something no matter what...

In other garages they tell em 9 and they take 9...

We Dont do a truck and a piece! So if they cant clean they are going to have to stay out..... Leave work for the 4-12... Which are only 2 guys doing baskets

We also lost some days 2 paper trucks from 9 to 7... But thats our normal summer #s anyway.... We still cleaned... I jumped on metal

Unfortunately it may be to late but who knows. I think as long as the city meets its dumping quota as per contract deals they cant really do anything about a massive reduction in dumping city wide. Its up to men
and women to decide if their going to do the extra work when the cuts hit their districts.

depends if there are transport jobs on 8-4 lol....but for the most part im 12-8...if a GU is chart ill go 8-4...im the 2nd to bottom guy in the garage and i jumped off nights because I saw the opportunity to make truck 3 days a week. I was making it for a few weeks, but then 90% of the night signees hopped off nights cause they saw me making truck lol. now myself and most of the junior guys who jumped off bounce around. we have a large night shift in 15 because of relays. The 4-12 and 7-3 shift are hard to hold because guys with 10+ years are on it.

That's beautiful.
The more relays, the more sanitation workers needed. Night diff to boot.
Keep it up.

if the contract says 10.7 tons, why does my district have a "target" weight of 13 tons?
some of the trucks in my district never stop eating, 14 and 15+ tons some people squeeze on it. maybe the mechanics tweak the pressure settings...
i dont understand why people are coming in at 12:30 with a 15 ton relay (at least its a relay) when i wait an extra 30 minutes and come in with a 12 ton relay and leave out 3 tons. some of these guys have over 20 years on and are so afraid of possibly getting a warning or some crap. i could care less. i filled my truck, i did nothing wrong. Mod cut: language it will always get dismissed.
