My husband and I want to go to NYC. We can really go anytime between next weekend and the first weekend of November. Which would you say would be a better time to see the leaves changing? Either this weekend or November 5th-6th?
I used to live in CT so in my mind Halloween = no more leaves. But I know in Central Park they hang on a bit longer than upstate right?

okay so I would think between this weekend or early November we should be good. Midwesterns45 it does seem that the heat of the city slows the process doesn't it? First time I was in Boston Common was in October and I couldn't believe how many trees were still green!
Aquarius37 I agree there does seem to be such a short window of nice foliage. When you see fall in the internet it's all these gorgeous scenes of blazing colors. But when I first moved to New England I couldn't believe how short the peak leaf season was. 3 months of fall and maybe 2-3 weeks of really nice color.
It's tough to say. If I go there and see something to shoot, I do, if not, no big deal I will always have Winter snow...
...and then Summer, etc.
Something eventually always comes up in NYC, either in CP, or Coney Island, or TS, or just down the street,
NOW... The crowds are already starting up though, but fall in NYC is absolutely beautiful.

You might not see the full on affect of the changing of the leaves and such, but the crowds aren't so bad, I imagine room rates and airfare wont be so bad, and crowds aren't outrageous.
I'm no good at this: I have been trying for 3 years to get to see the Wisteria in bloom in Spring (in the Conservatory Garden.) Never made it once and I live within walking distance.
