I've have peformed this trek (a few times) with great pains but just want to solicit some feedback and see if folks concur or differ on my viewpoint. Trying to make it less painful (and less stressful for future trips).
Driving in from No. NJ/Bergen Co. (inbound)
Generally go inbound weekday evenings or noontime/afternoon weekends.
But something leads me to believe that best route/combo is Lincoln Tunnel & BB Tunnel (to Belt). Why? 278 across SI (from NJ) has constant gridlock (e.g. lane merge from Goethals, lane closures/construction, heavy traffic in VZN left lane). Summer Sundays going in using Holland Tunnel is brutal with JC/Hobokenites (e.g. yuppies) returning from Jersey Shore (1/2 - 2/3 hr delays on inbound approach to tunnel, waterfront). Which route is less problematic going into the city/Brooklyn? Getting out of the city has never really been an issue (and the VZN across SI can be expedient going outbound).
Parking
I have found driving/parking to be so brutal in WBB/BB (general area between Neptune/subway/beach) relative to CI (not that CI is a cakewalk). So instead I park in/around Keyspan Park and just go for the long walk into WBB/BB. Is this really the best one can do (to minimize aggravation)?
try the area north of brighton beach avenue and east of ocean pkwy....u might find free parking on those side blocks, then you can just walk south to brighton beach.

I thinking I'm better off just going to KeySpan and walking (or jogging) west on the boardwalk to BB. Specific destination area is Levy Park / Tatiana restuarant area.
ok well u asked for suggestions. i am very familiar with the area so i know how the parking situation can be. if you feel comfortable with parking 15+ blocks away, then continue to do so.

take a train, please, you would cause less congestion and air pollution for Brighton beach
Mass transit question.
Best route and est. time from NY Penn to BB?
How about from Hoboken to BB? Is there any ferries that go from NJ to Brooklyn?
For train from NJ is best way go to NY Penn and which subways to BB?
Or should I go through Hoboken, using PATH or ferry to lower Manhattan and then taking subway or ferry (if there is one) to BB/CI?
