Hello everyone, I am planning a trip to NYC in December. For some reason I always thought it would be a cool place to go to around Christmas time. What are some cool things to see and do in NYC in December. Thanks!

NYC is beautifully decorated for X'mas in December. It is a great time to visit the city. One of the main attractions is the Rockefeller Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center. Also also the big dept. stores like Macys, Saks 5th Avenue, Lord & Taylor, etc. have beautifully decorated X'mas store window displays. Another thing to do is to see the famous X'mas Spectacular Rockettes show at Radio City Music Hall.
This is besides the usual wonderful things to do in NYC all year around!

I spent all of November and December 2007 in NYC, and it was absolutely beautiful. However... if you go near Rockefeller Center at Christmas time... be absolutely prepared to be in the most awesome foot traffic you ever saw... it'll take you a long time, to go a short distance, because the crowds are so vast. But I expected it, so I was prepared. But it is an absolutely great time to visit the city.

+1 on the Rockettes. They do rock. And Radio City is a beautiful theater.

The best windows are at Bergdorf's. Here are some pics from last year: Bergdorf Goodman Holiday Window Decorations - 2008 Holiday Themed Window Displays at Bergdorf Goodman - Seasons Greetings Theme

I would recommend Macy's as well. We went last November just before most everything was decorated. Macy's had everything set up before anyone else. We just kept going up every floor, we couldn't believe how big that place is. The 9th or 10th floor, can't remember which was the top had hundreds of decorations.

NYC in December is very nice, as well as year-round.
Remember that it's cold here, but not as snowy.
Temperatures are around 40s during day and 30s at night, but it could be milder or slightly colder.

How much snow would you say you get in Jan - Feb?
