Girlfriend's parents are coming into NYC for her graduation and they want to get a table at a jazz club. They suggested Birdland, Iridium or Blue Note. Anyone familiar with this scene who could offer a suggestion? If a different place would be better, do tell!

Hmm, check out Zinc Bar in the Village ... they have Bossa Nova jazz on weekends. I haven't been to Blue Note, but I've been to Terra Blues and that place rocks!
yeah, i don't think the food is that great. i didn't eat much, but the people i went with weren't really crazy about their dishes. unfortunately, if you're not eating, you'll be stuck in the bar section.

Which is what I'm trying to avoid. I don't want to take them to a smoke filled bar at 1:30am. Gotta be more of a dinner thing.
The Jazz Standard on 27th Street is a good place for family and far less cramped than many of the others. Equally importantly, it is affiliated with Blue Smoke upstairs, so the food is much better than you will get elsewhere.
