Please tell me how the hell they can mail me a ticket for blocking the box, I waited until I had enough room to fit, Soon as enough room opened up and I started to go, two cars opposite sides of me floor it cutting in front of me.. now leaving me partially in the box.
There's no law in NY City Driving, People do what ever the hell they want.

I was NOT blocking traffic, although I may have been few inches over the cross walk, not the BOX. If I didn't go, I'd never make it through with the cabbies cutting in the lanes and all that stuff. I don't think I was in violation according to the statute, it was my word against the brownies word...I lost...Guilty, paid the fine.
My guess the change was for several reasons including allocation of NYPD resources. Traffic enforcement agents are "cheaper" and more plentiful to assign in dealing with vehicle flow issues than putting LE in same.

Being as that may blocking the box is a very huge problem, especially in certain areas such as Mid-Town Manhattan.

Just imagine if they ticketed every person who held the subway doors- or jaywalkers.
It's very much the exact same thing.

Causes delays, and enforcement is often more lengthy than the violation.

Drivers are a big red target in NYC.

Blocking the box is very dangerous. If you don't think you will make it through the light on time before it changes red stop creeping up. I'm glad you got a ticket and wish more drivers who blocked the box did.
