Hey.

What are some safe neighborhoods in Brooklyn for young singles who are very musically inclined? basically, a place where I can walk (or drive within reasonable distance) to any number of music venues, bars, cafes, restaurants. I want to live where the music scene is at. And also.. the place where all the girls are at

Thanks!

Williamsburg, Williamsburg, williamsburg. It is well known for its indie scene and has lots of local venues.

Williamsburg, Fort Greene, Clinton Hill, Boerum Hill, Cobble Hill, Carrol Gardens, Greenpoint, Park Slope. Of these, Willamsburg sounds like what you'd be most inclined toward for it's music and bars but it's pretty expensive these days. Greenpoint is close to Williamsburg and a bit cheaper as is Clinton Hill. The other neighborhoods I listed tend to be pretty expensive but are definitly safe and have plenty of bars/music. There are cheaper neighborhoods such as Bushwick and Bed Stuy which still provide easy access to places like Williamsburg, but you sacrifice a little bit of safety.

For the moment! But as people who want to be close to Williamsburg yet can't afford it start moving in to Bushwick and Bed-Stuy (which has already started happening for real--take a ride on the L train and see who's getting off the train at stations five and six stops into Brooklyn), that's going to change.

As always, one should only take advice as a preliminary guideline. Go to the different neighborhoods and see how you feel. You may find that you don't have the same problems as someone else.

Thank you guys for the advice. And yeah I do plan on checking out several neighborhoods before deciding on anything. Was looking for a start.

Anyone here actually live on Williamsburg?

I used to live there, and agree, look at Wburg and the surrounding areas, bushwick or bedstuy for a lower budget. Anything along the L train route for the most part.

If you live in taht area, good luck with those girls. I found most of them to be snobby and stuck up, when they don't have anything to be stuck up about, unless you're a super hipster.

ANd depends on how you are musically inclined. THey will only consider certain types of music. Otherwise, there are a ton of places to eat and awesome bars with the most character you can ever find.
