Hi All,

We live at Edison, NJ and are planning to take a road trip to Niagara Falls during the July 4 long weekend. We would like to know if there are any interesting places/attractions on the way to Niagara or kind of close by(around an hour or couple of hours drive within NY/Pennsylvania areas) to Niagara worth paying a visit.

It's been a while since we went on a long drive and would like to keep this trip interesting as much as possible. Thanks for your help!

Cheers,
Danny

Don't go straight to Syracuse on 81. There are so many ways to go.

Go to Cooperstown for the Baseball Hall of Fame and NYSHA Museums. Or to Corning for Corning Glass. Maybe go Rt.17 over to Elmira and up to Geneva on the west of the lake; or thru Canadaigua -- but go to see the Lake, otherwise, it is not worth it. Or go to Howe Caverns and also through the wine country (Keuka, Seneca, etc.) You could do the Niagara Wine trail. How about all the Frank Lloyd Wright around Buffalo (Martin Complex and don't miss Greycliff and the "newly built" ( from FLW plans) Fontana boathouse on the Niagara River and Blue Sky Mausoleum) - 5 homes in Buffalo, also Greycliff and the newbuilds from plans he never finished. Neat stuff. . See the wonderful architecture of Buffalo. If you are into historical (like Rev War, etc.), go north to Rt. 20 and follow it west. Slow, yes -- but full of history (* you will have fun counting the historical markers you stop at). Letchworth is a gem if you like hiking; it demands a hike to the Upper Falls.

So many ways to go, so little time....

Former NYC resident here... I visited N.F several times in a 2 year span <it was love>, I have now become a full time resident, people here in this city think I am nuts when I say I LOVE IT, its cheaper and the way of life is much smoother, not saying to move... but enjoy the sites,,,Central,NY is lovely..Treadway Inn in Owego, NY is breath taking... Dolphin Diner not far from the hotel is great too... Visit the Corning museum of glass... for a cheap but great meal in the city of Niagara Falls,,try PAPA JOES on Niagara Falls blvd in Wheatfield..
