ok..i live in california now, and want a change. i've always loved the east coast and i'm planning on visiting this summer to see how i like it. i was wondering if you guys can help me find an area that i might like to live in. i'm looking for a small house to rent..would love for it to be an old house from the 1800's at least. i do have some money saved up and will be looking for a job when i get settled in there but i need a neighborhood that's not too pricey. i don't want it to be in the city. i'm into weird things..urban exploration, haunted places, so i would love for the area to have that creepy feel to it..if that makes sense. haha.

NY State is large. What part of the state are you interested in?

i honestly don't mind what area i am in..as long as housing is cheap, i'm good. i was thinking upstate ny but i'm sure that area is expensive. i just want a small town with old houses that aren't too expensive to rent.

Upstate is cheap. Find a job, then move. The more rural, the better... for your interests and desired home too. Try looking around Cooperstown and Oneonta.
