My company is relocating me to the US.
The company i work for is based in Palo-Alto, and i will actually be a full-time contractor for another company in with offices in Jersey and New York.
I'm trying to figure out what tax rates will I pay (California/NY/NJ).
Additionally, i was thinking about living in Jersey to reduce costs. will that affect my taxes as well?
As you can see I'm new to the tax system in the US, any help will be appreciated.
You will pay federal taxes, which is the most important. And secondly you will pay your state income tax, which varies on the state you live in. If you live in NY, you will pay New York taxes, and vice verca.
New Jersey has lower taxes compared to New York. New York City also has an additional income tax. Go for NJ. It also is cheaper in NJ to rent.
