It's no longer a question of IF Spitzer will be forced out of office, but WHEN. Right about now, Spitzer's going nuts in some back room with the NY Democratic leaders trying to figure out how to back out of office gracefully and not destroy the power of the NY Democratic party. It will only be a matter of days (or hours) before he comes to terms with the fact that his political career, and probably his marriage, are both over.
And when he does, Lt. Governor David Peterson will be sworn in as the new Governor of our great state. Anyone know much about soon-to-be Governor Peterson?
Consider me naive...but I think this is going to be good for New York State!

David A. Paterson was elected New York’s lieutenant governor on November 7, 2006.
Elected to represent Harlem in the New York State Senate in 1985, David Paterson has demanded and achieved change at every level, not simply by what he stands for but by who he is.
In 2002, David Paterson was elected minority leader of the New York State Senate, the first non-white legislative leader in New York’s history.
The above information is from the New York State website (http://www.ny.gov/ltgov/index.html - broken link).

In a odd twist of fate, Spitzer's utter stupidity could be a godsend for all of NY....hope "it" was enough for a lifetime of good memories for Elliot LOL ......men: God cursed them with two heads

And 95% of the time the little one wins, Get back in there you little bastard, get!! get!!
David Paterson of Harlem is the son of Basil Paterson, who represented Queens in the New York State Senate, was nominated as Lt. Gov. in 1970 and served as Deputy Mayor 1974-78. This makes David the second generation of a political dynasty.
David's career was nurtured in the Democratic clubhouses of Harlem -- under the aegis of David Dinkins, Percy Sutton, Charlie Rangel, etc. He rose quickly to State Senate Minority Leader, an indication of the high regard of his peers and political skills. He's a good guy, modest for a politician (how refreshing!).
But does it bode well for upstate NY? A blind, black man from Brooklyn, very liberal mentored by Rangel and Dinkins, one of NYC's worst-ever mayors? Why is everyone so hopeful? He won't give upstate the time of day, let alone tend to its problems.
This segment from WNYC's Brian Lehrer Show may give you a sense of the general regard in which his colleagues and press hold him.
