Its still a few months away from beach season. But, what are the best upstate beaches on the great lakes?

Bumping this thread now that summer is here. What are people's favorite upstate NY beaches on Lake Erie and Lake Ontario?

I'd love to know this, too. You might have better luck posting in the individual Rochester and Buffalo forums

Unfortunately the massive flooding along Lake Ontario may be affecting some of the best beaches...

Hamlin is very popular (Rochester area). Southwick and Westcott (east coast of Ontario) are also nice.

If you want to visit Lake Ontario but don't care about swimming, try Lakeside State Park.

It's important to note that every one of the Great Lakes are experiencing high water levels. Lake Ontario is 3' above average. Many of the beaches and parks have been devastated and might be closed. I advise calling first

^ Great points in the last 2 posts.

With that said, a lake like Oneida Lake, the biggest lake completely within the state has beaches such as Sylvan Beach, Verona Beach, Oneida Shores and even William Beach, a small town of Cicero beach, could be viable options for those coming Upstate.

I understand that the Finger Lakes are at normal levels. Always a great and varied place to visit.
