That seems like a good candidate—I guess that’s a specific one and people don’t call it New York-style, but just New York Cheesecake. Anyone disagree with that?
Beverages are good. Long Island Iced Tea works! I guess a Manhattan works, too! I’m not familiar with Manhattan Fish Chowder, but it looks good. I love beef on weck and would love to try a spiedie, but I’m looking for dishes where the place location is integral to the name itself. Thank you for the suggestions!
Manhattan fish chowder is New York's version of bouillabaisse. The last time I ate it was at the Concord Hotel about 60 years ago. It was delicious and much better nutrition wise than either New England Clam or New England Fish Chowder. All that cream and butter aren't healthy.
I rarely see Manhattan Clam Chowder on any menu. Everything is New England.

That sounds about right. I haven’t seen it on menus myself, but it makes sense. Even in Manhattan, the default clam chowder seems to be New England Clam Chowder and it’s often the Manhattan Clam Chowder that needs to be explicitly stated as such on menus.
Nice! Do people specifically say Rochester Garbage Plate or just Garbage Plate? I feel like it’s always just Garbage Plate even when outside of the Rochester area. I know that no one says Buffalo Wings in Buffalo—they’re just called wings, but it’s not rare for within NYS to specifically say Buffalo Wings.
You are probably right about the Garbage Plate. I just associate the Garbage Plate as a Rochester centric meal.
I'm surprised there's not more recognition of NYS cheese. There are a lot of dairy farms upstate.
I stop at the Taste New York Southern Tier rest stop just over the border from PA on I-81, and they have good cheese, cheese curds and other stuff like pickles and mustards made in the state. Cheese curds make a good car snack for a long-distance run, I tell ya whut.
