interesting cuomo asked for these people, the AG said no. now Lavine makes it happen!

someone slipped someone money under the table, now LAVINE says its going to take MONTHS to investigate!

kiss the service industry in NY goodbye! All cuomo has to do is hold cheer leading press confrences

The impeachment investigation into Gov. Cuomo will likely take “months,” a top New York state lawmaker revealed during a Tuesday committee hearing about the probe.

Assemblyman Charles Lavine (D-L.I.), chair of the Judiciary Committee, warned there would be no quick verdict from lawmakers about the myriad of sexual misconduct and other allegations against the embattled governor.

”The timing of the investigation will be in terms of months rather than weeks,” Lavine said in an opening statement.

Tuesday’s hearing was scheduled to introduce lawyers from David Polk & Wardwell, a high-profile Manhattan-based firm hired by state lawmakers last week to lead the impeachment probe.

The white-shoe law firm hired by the New York state Assembly to probe Gov. Andrew Cuomo has ties to Chief Judge Janet DiFiore — posing a possible conflict of interest, critics say.
Cuomo appointee DiFiore is married to Dennis Glazer, who spent more than 30 years as a partner at Davis Polk & Wardwell — the firm tapped by the Assembly on Wednesday.
Debra Katz, the lawyer for one of Cuomo’s seven accusers, Charlotte Bennett, slammed the connection as an “unacceptable conflict of interest.”
“The impeachment investigation must operate free of political influence and must be transparent, detailing for the public the steps being taken to protect the integrity of their impeachment investigation,” Katz said in a statement.
“We already know the extent to which Governor Cuomo has surrounded himself with people in the Executive Chamber who enabled his behavior and swept evidence of sexual harassment under the rug. If there is even a hint of political influence in the impeachment investigation, it will taint the entire proceedings.”
The Assembly’s Judiciary Committee Chair Charles Lavine defended hiring Davis Polk.
“Davis Polk was thoroughly vetted and the three attorneys retained are extremely well qualified,” he said in a statement. “I am confident they will assist the committee and me to conduct a fair and impartial investigation.”
Lucian Chalfen, spokesman for the state’s court system, said DiFiore was not involved at all in selecting Davis Polk, which he described as “a large multinational law firm with hundreds of employees and thousands of clients.”
“The Chief Judge has neither any connection to the firm nor was involved with its choice by the Assembly Judiciary Committee,” he said.

Amid mounting allegations of sexual misconduct, Cuomo late last month asked state Attorney General Letitia James and DiFiore, whom he appointed as the chief judge of the Court of Appeals in 2015, to jointly appoint an investigator to look into the claims.
James shot down the request, saying it was her job as AG to probe Cuomo.

I've had Davis Polk & Wardwell as clients over the years. They are a pretty thorough law firm.

He can't prevent Letittia James from investigating. And she'd love to see him gone, so she'd be running against a no-name fill in for governor next year.

Not at this point, but I was amazed that current NYS law requires the governor to make a referral before the AG can investigate him. That law needs to be changed asap as it's bad governance.

yeah but cuomo goons will be in the same room, making sure they dont "talk"

these goons are disguised as criminal lawyers, but they are just "criminal" lawyers who dont follow the law and are there as a human spying device for cuomo.

think about it, cuomo got what he originally wanted and what the AG denied. he has his own "investigation force" , the same law firm he wanted....and its not an investigation force its really just an "intimidation force".

he will be found innocent of everything, they will say he didnt do anything that was considered a sexual crime, and they will say he was morally wrong when he withheld data but no criminal charges will be filled.

thats exactly what will happen.

so all you people out there who think cuomos getting impeached, hes not going anywhere and he will try to get a 4th term something is father could never do!

She can put them under oath. She could go as far as empanelling a grand jury, in which case Cuomo's lawyers would be excluded.
