Parts of New York could be socked with up to half a foot of snow overnight into Wednesday morning, officials said Tuesday as the Big Apple basked in summer-like weather.
The National Weather Service on Tuesday issued a hazardous weather outlook for large swaths of central and western New York ahead of the off-season cold snap.
Not surprised, as there is a relatively substantial accumulation Upstate as well. Then, tomorrow will hit 60, with 80 as a high by the middle of next week up here.
.. Anytime I think how getting this unsettled weather in April suks..a couple counter-thoughts come to mind. I have friends and relatives in the SW US...hotter than hades in the summer, and by August, everything looks brown, not green. Drilling for water is $$$ and depending where, water usage is controlled. Have been in hot, arid, desert areas(and not always by choice)...guess I had my fill of that kind of climate.
Snow in April in this area (Capitol region) is not too unusual. I remember planting flowers the weekend after Memorial Day thinking it was safe, only to have a snowstorm bury it all. Native-born neighbors laughed as they had warned me to wait, just to be sure.

Couldn’t pay me enough to live in those conditions.
I need seasons. Otherwise, it’s like Groundhog’s Day.
Same thing over and over and over. No thanks.
Oh yeah, remember it snowed last May all the way down to eastern Long Island!

I moved to NY in 1976 so I've always wondered about seasons myself.
Cold, windy, snowy and gloomily month after month followed by a short period of hot muggy weather swarmed by mosquitoes.
But since I really barely remember four season I've settled in to NY's two seasons.
But this year we had a couple nice weeks before the snow came back and one day working in the yard it hit me this must be that thing people call "Spring".
I liked it very much and actually makes me wanna live where its common.
