Who cares!!! People put too much emphasis on being the first of this or first of that. Hochel also knew what was going on with Andy so she's just as complicit for not calling him on it.

Oh exactly. Should be about experience and qualifications first. Always.
Not anymore though. You could be as dumb as a block of wood but if you are not Caucasian and/or have a vagina or whatever, it’s big deal.
You're right. Its not like she is second-in-command or anything. Beyond being running mates and being sworn in as Governor and Lt. Governor, she's probably clueless........
Yes, it's their job to tow the company line, of course.
But when in her past has she had a position like this? Being an assembly member is NOT the same. The governor's job, like a mayor, or town supervisor is more like running a business. The state has thousands of employees, multi billion budget and people pulling you in every direction.
It is possible that she could grow into the position, but as for right now, I say no.
She will be the first female governor. She is of Irish extraction (or possibly French via England) but her husband is most likely of Polish extraction. In a state where ethnicity plays an important role in politics, will she be accepted by the majority of the electorate?
I'm not Irish or French but I'm fine with her, instead of AOC's ilk.
I care about public safety and avoiding having my wallet stolen by the government, more than shared ethnic ties with those who govern.

She is not liked by the hardcore left wing of the democratic party. She is a moderate, and that does not fly in NY any more. I met her once many years ago when she was on her town board and my town board was looking to them for some guidance on a narrow issue. She was very pro-business and responsible economic development. She got the NRA endorsement once, which tells you all you need to know and why the mainstream dems won't back her. She doesn't get to set the agenda now, but once she becomes governor, I suspect she will **** off a lot of people in her party. Overall, I like her way more than Cuomo. I think she is exactly the type of democrat NY needs, liberal on social issues but not irresponsible when it comes to courting businesses and helping the economy move. Sadly, this moderate type of position will not be supported in NY anymore. Honestly, she is more like Pataki than Cuomo in my opinion.
She will be Patterson V:2.0
Ride out the term, then step aside for the next “anointed one”, whoever that ends up being.
She’s too old school normal democrat for today’s party, so yeah, she’ll be gone.
That's nonsense. The "hardcore left wing of the democratic party" couldn't even win the NYC mayoral primary. The only reason India Walton won the Democratic primary in Buffalo was because current mayor Byron Brown didn't take her seriously and didn't campaign hard enough to get his supporters to the polls. Hochul's moderate position is exactly what voters want.
I disagree. But to each his/her own.
